This hunky youth worker is NOT what the doctor ordered!

Dr. Jaclyn Donnel will fight anything to fix the inefficient health care system that let her father die. When charismatic youth worker, Sam Allen's expensive new rescue program threatens her under-funded ER, they're bound to butt heads.

Sam knows first hand that the only way out of the gutter is a hand up. He's determined to save Tasmania's street kids, regardless of cost and the sexy, headstrong doctor opposing him, until one youth demands a price even Sam won’t pay -- Jaclyn's life.

They may not save the world, but they might just save each other.

Behind the Scenes

Between the Gutter and the Sky was my first novel. In many ways, it was the reason I became an author, a fire in my belly that I had to quench. Given the subject matter of Gutter, as the book is affectionately known, it seemed natural to dedicate half my share of each sale to the work of Gran’s Van, a local mobile soup kitchen that caters to the homeless.

Finding true love can be a killer.

With Summer heating up, Marian thinks it’s the perfect time to push her five-year relationship up a notch. But the body she gets close and personal with isn’t her lover’s. Or alive. Boyfriend Rob has some explaining to do, and a diamond ring full of promises to make if he wants to keep his girl.

Behind the Scenes

The Marian Kind came out in one solid blurt. I have never written anything so fast before (from idea to finished story in just 3 weeks) and the following month it was sold. So the process, like the madcap plot, was a head spinner.

Ashes to Ashes
Short story in Freya’s Bower charity anthology
Dreams and Desires coming out February 2008

With the help of his rabidly green sister, a green-tinged workmate, and a jar of unknown ashes, a widower finds new value and hope in protecting a stand of old growth forest.

Behind the Scenes

Tasmania (where I live) has some of the oldest forests on earth, and the world’s tallest flowering plant, the Mountain Ash, or Eucalyptus Regnans. These magnificent trees are constantly under threat from the clear-felling slash and burn practices of the forestry industry. While I accept our need for timber, I fear we’ll only regret our current practices too late to save these ancients.

In this short story, I consider the emotional and spiritual renewal of a widower who reassesses his life when confronted with the grandeur and mystery of trees almost as old as time.

I’m proud to be part of the Dreams and Desires 2008 anthology. All money raised goes to a battered women’s shelter, and that’s a great cause for us to get behind.
